The brief
The Mortgage Link Waikato team wanted:
- Fresh new design to complement new corporate branding
- Increase traffic numbers
- Improve search engine positioning
- Communicate with existing customers more easily online
The solution
Our solution comprised of a new custom design using browser safe colours and optimised photos. The website uses a stylesheet set up to use flexible font sizes and fully browser compliant for a fully accessible and user-friendly layout.
We integrated our in-house solution for editable pages into the most popular pages so that the in-house team can keep the mortgage rate table, news and testimonials updated daily. The regularly updated text is one of the main elements contributing to the improved search engine positioning since launch.
They also wanted to be able to update the mortgage calculator percentage rate daily, to keep up to date with the lowest rate displayed in the mortgage rates table.
The easy to use contact form was set up with a variety of subjects and related fields of data required.
The in-house email newsletter system was integrated into the website to enable new subscribe requests to be automatically added to the system. The team benefited from multiple in-house training sessions to learn how to send the email newsletters and how to manipulate the contact list and categories.
We undertook a full search engine optimisation program after launch to ensure that the traffic numbers were increasing and search engine positioning improving. We monitored the website closely during the three month incubation period after launch. The key indicators monitored were unique visits per day and Google positioning for the main keyphrases.
The outcome
The website now receives an average of over 25 visits per day. The most popular pages are the Mortgage calculator, the Mortgages page, the Contact page and Meet the team. On average visitors spend over 3 minutes per visit which indicates that content is easy to find but interesting enough to hold attention for a reasonable length of time.
The website is indexed in the three major search engines: Google, Yahoo and MSN. Over the first three months since launch the website has gained over twenty places in Google for the keyphrase "mortgage broker hamilton" and is now sitting in position 7 on the 1st page of Google.co.nz.
The email newsletter system has been used by the team to send out individual messages to clients of a particular broker and about a particular event as well as general monthly newsletters to all subscribers.
