What information do you need from me to get started?

Ideally we need 4 pieces of information from you:

A domain name - such as www.yourwebsite.co.nz. You can check to see if your preferred name is available using the search form on this website: www.1stdomains.co.nz
Website content broken down into sizeable chunks of information, e.g. Products, Prices, About us, Contact details. We can work with printed materials such as your company brochures but this will take longer than using electronic text as we will have to retype all the text. Images can be provided in printed or digital format, we will optimise them to look good and download quickly on your website.
Target audience - an idea of who your customers are and who you are hoping to attract online will help us to display the wording and design in an appropriate manner.
Your company logo. If you don't have one, we can advise a suitable way to brand your website or recommend a reputable logo design company.

How long will it take to develop my website?

Once Fox Web Works has all your content in final form and a signed contract and deposit, a typical website is ready to launch within 4 to 6 weeks. Larger sites may take longer, and smaller sites may take less time.

I already own a domain name, will you be able to use this domain name if you develop a new website for me?

Yes. We will ask you to request a new UDAI code from the current domain name registrar, then we can help organise moving the domain name from it's current host to the website host.

I need a website ASAP, what are all the fees associated with getting a basic informative website on the internet?

To get a basic informative site on the internet you will need to pay for the design of a website (from $2,000), purchase a domain name ($35 per year for a .co.nz), and you will need to purchase website hosting (from $30 per month).

What types of payments does Fox Web Works accept?

Fox Web Works accepts payments via internet banking or by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Fox Web Works Ltd and sent to: Fox Web Works Ltd, PO Box 809, Hamilton Mail Centre, Hamilton 3240, New Zealand.

What is the payment schedule?

Payments are typically due in two parts: A deposit and signed contract are required before beginning our work together. The deposit is usually 50% of the total amount established in the contract. For larger projects or longer time frames, incremental payments could be due along the way, which would be defined in the contract.

Upon completion of the website by Fox Web Works, the final balance will be due and payable. Payment in full is required within 7 days of the website being uploaded (or sending the files to you via email or postal mail). Additional work incurred during the project at the client's request will be added to the balance.

How soon can we start?

Fox Web Works officially schedules projects upon receipt of the signed contract and deposit. Your content will also need to be ready by the dates agreed upon within our contract together.

It's common to have initial discussions about the project, work out the contract details, and schedule the project to begin a week or so later to allow you to gather your content, images, and other materials needed. If you have all your content and materials ready now, we'll work out our schedule to get started sooner.

Can Fox Web Works create sites that will look good in any browser?

We have over 10 years of experience developing sites for a wide range of browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape, Mozilla, and Safari. Our sites will also work across platforms, such as Windows PCs or Apple Mac computers.

We base the design and development on your target market while making sure your site works well and is fully accessible by even older browsers or text-only browsers or alternative devices.

Will you update the website's content after the website design is completed?

Yes. We appreciate ongoing relationships with our clients. For ongoing site updating we typically just bill in 30 minute slots and send invoices once a month. Or you can opt to have a partial or full content management system website built, so that you or your team can make ongoing text and link updates yourselves.

Can you create a website that we can update ourselves?

Yes. Fox Web Works can create or redesign your site so that you can easily update content yourself, even if you don't know any HTML. If you have any questions along the way, or if you need our services for image optimisation, for example, we're always more than happy to give you the ongoing support you need.

Do I need to use a website design company local to me?

No, not necessarily. Everything can be done over the internet or the telephone. We design websites for companies worldwide and rarely meet the distant clients, some of whom have been clients of ours for years. However, our door is always open to anyone who would like to speak to us face to face and we do make an effort to keep in close contact with all clients no matter where they are based.

Can I see the design while my website is under development?

Yes. Once the design for the main page has been completed it will be uploaded to our server for your approval. After approval the rest of website will be developed.

Will I own the website once it is complete?

After we have launched your website and received the full payment from you, you will have complete ownership of your website.

Can I add pages at a later time?

Yes, you can add more pages or more featurs at anytime. Please note there will be additional fees.
